The Hive has never recapped a loss. This is weird
I don't have too much to say. I'm just so proud of the kids. I'm glad they got the awards, accolades, media recognition and community backing they justly deserved.
The Hive is proud to be associated with this bunch of kids and the community of East Canton. I'm impressed by the community for playing their roles. From cheering for the team to serving spaghetti dinners to painting the town blue and gold, everyone did their part to make sure basketball came back to East Canton. The Hive's role was to virtually admire an outstanding group of young men, mostly because I thought the smaller schools tend to get ignored by the media. But the Hornets played so well that the media could not ignore them. 23 wins later and Coach Spurgeon is in the Rep almost as much as Brett Wackerly. With that being said, thank you, East Canton, for embracing this thing I call the Hive. From its uncertain beginnings it has molded into a place a good Hornet fan can come and find out what the latest and greatest is with the team. And after this magical season, a good Hornet fan is again a cool thing to be.

Go Hornets!
Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I'm sure it was just a coincidence. The press news would never do anything unprofessional when it comes to dealing with the basketball program. I just hope the officials at Salem didn't harass the press news' photographer.
I guess it is fair since every one of your pictures is pirated from the rep.
Go Hornets!!

Touche
Newton Falls has an all-district 1st teamer in Cody Dillon. This is the same award Zell and Ryan received
Just imagine , East Canton is on the front page. And the school name doesnt begin with 'M'????Impossible
something to be said " thought Nicole's wanted no credit did not want people to know?" hahaha He got his spotlight- hope now he can learn to officiate better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Couldn't have asked for a better group of kids for this to happen to and have such a macgical season! Conrats on a wonderful year and good luck in all your future plans!!!
Thank You Hornets!!!!
While you are just a great group of friends and SUPER nice young men who were out there playing a game they love, you did much more than you could ever imagine. Among your "accomplishments":
1. You helped this community show all of the area how much they love basketball, and united them together.
2. You won an epic battle between good and evil that you had no idea you were even fighting.
3. You gave people something good to think about when times are hard, and provided a gathering place of constant celebration every Tuesday and Friday....and the occasional Saturday.
4. You helped a grumpy aging curmudgeon's small heart grow three sizes and rediscover his life long love of such a beautiful game.
But most importantly:
5. You inspired a group of young players who will be the true legacy of your example. They have a dream now that all of you put there. They want to BE you, and I can't think of better role models for my son or the other young boys than all of you.
You are truly all legends, and I will never enjoy writing a story about a district championship team for the Hoop Guide as much as I will enjoy writing yours.
You are everything that is pure and good about high school basketball.
I love all of you very much.
Thank You!!

Once every 100 years a storm comes along that is so big and so awesome compared to the rest that it is called the "Storm of the Century". Storms such as this present a crisis for some and an opportunity for others. But for all who experience it, it is something they will remember for a lifetime.
Hornets.. You blew new wind into old sails..THANK YOU... Thank you...
These 11 boys also got something very important from this experience. They got to know what it feels like to get tremendous love and support from persons other than their family, some of whom they don't even know. In a perfect world all children would get a chance to experience that kind of support. As it is, only some get to shine in such a way. What a gift these boys have received. I hope it inspires them to do great things with their lives.
I have tried to vote on the most recent polls and found that I cannot.Would be like trying to pick a star out of a cloudless night.I spent the last few days reading over old Hive posts,Repository and other newspaper articles, etc, with a lump in my throat and some tears. Not because those wonderful boys of ours fell in the regionals, but tears as a result of love and pride. If i tried to stuff any more pride in this old heart of mine,I would most likely explode.
Every time the Hornets took the court was a memory.Everytime they took the court was magical.IN hard times such as these, they brought hope and a promise of a better tomorrow, just by being the wonderful boys that they are.I know the seniors will be graduating soon and I have to wonder , what Cadillac human beings we are sending out into the world.
The pride I feel is the same pride all of you feel.I mean the parents, coaches, teachers, church family, the community as a whole.I only have a simple prayer for those magnificent young men that warmed our hearts all season on and off the court.I could ask God that life would be good to them...and that one day they can feel the pride that you and I feel.
P.S. I loved The Hive.Whoevr thought up the idea should get a congressional medal of honor.Hope it expands in the years to come.I look to next year with optimism.
